The Executive secretary of Lagos Island East LCDA,Hon Lukmon Omotosho otherwise known as Ilufemiloye 1,has presented certificates of vocational training to over Three hundred graduates who graduated from the six weeks vocational course tagged EKOMI INICIATIVES last Thursday.
Our correspondent who witness the colourful and well attended graduation ceremony gathered that some of the vocations learnt during the six weeks course were Catering,Decoration,Make up,Bead making and Photography.
The Graduates under the umbrella of the president of EKOMI INITIATIVES, Mr Qudus Rasak advise his co-graduates to rebrand themselves while delivering their services to the public, the president also presented Award of Appreciation towards positive contribution to the empowerment program to members of the executives secretary committees and council staff who play a vital and promising role while acquiring the skills.
According to the council Head of Women Affair and poverty Alleviation programme (WAPA), Mrs Aderonke Ogundiran confirmed to news men that since the training commence in November last year the pupils have been supportive and willing to learn while in lecture room.
At the gathering, the EKOMI INITIATIVES, also award and present working materials to best three graduating student from various vocations to start up their jobs.
In an interactive session with the media,The Executive secretary of Lagos Island East LCDA, Hon Lookmon Omotosho highlighted that vocational education is the panacea to growing unemployment in the country, where youth can be empowered with different vocational skills that would enable them earn their daily living when white collar jobs are difficult to secure.
Omotosho stated further that, the vocational institute is opened to all, without prejudice to age, educational qualification or tribe adding that vocational education will reduce poverty, makes people to be self reliant and promotes entrepreneurship, where our youth will not remain idle any longer, ''We are also looking forward to seeing those who acquired skills at this Centre to contribute their quota to the development of our LCDA". Omotosho Stated.
Giving his votes of thanks on behalf of other grandaunts, Mr Omobolaji Serano, an Agidigbo exponent who acquire photography skills from the EKOMI INITIATIVE thanks the executives secretary by one of his popular track for giving him and his colleagues this great opportunity, claiming that he can now go into photography when ever he is not on stage.
