MEET EIGHT OCTOGENARIANS WHO ARE STILL ACTIVE IN LAGOS ISLAND POLTICS

Taking a look into the world of the founding fathers of Lagos Island polity under the platform of the Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos Island Constituency 11, Lagos state. in this comprehensive report by august24online.com senior political correspondent AJAGBE ADEYEMI TESLIM takes a look into the world of the eight octogenarians who have paid their dues and still active in Lagos Island Constituency 11 politics.

(1) First on the list is Alhaji MUFULI AREMU OSHODI popularly known as baba Oshodi who is believed to be the oldest among all, come march 14 this year baba Oshodi will clock 88.baba Oshodi was the pioneer ward chairman of the defunct UPN in ward E1,report also have it that Pa OshOdi was one of the powers that produced former house of Assembly member Hon Shakirudeen Ayo Hammed. Baba Oshodi is a very close associates to Hon RF Balogun.

(2) HON WAHEED AREMU JAWANDO was born on the brighter day of February 10 1934 into the family of Late Alhaji Jimoh Jawando of the famous AKA descendant in Okepopo area and Alhaja Sarinat Abeke Jawando of the Ope chieftaincy family in Epetedo community of Lagos Island, Hon Jawando was a former councillor of ward G2 during the Era of UPN, he is an active and recognise member of the elders forum in Lagos Island Constituency 11 and vice chairman of the elders forum of his ward. it would be correct to say AWA Jawando is one of the two octogenarian who played an active role and attended campaigns and rallies among his peers at the just concluded poll in respective of the hazard of the campaign. pls join me to wish him happy birthday as he clocks 84today. (3) HON ABDUL LATEEF ADEKUNLE ALLI popularly known as double chief is a prolific writer of higher pedigree, this 83 year old Lagos historian of high repute is no doubt the most agile and sound among all as he still drives without any fear on a daily basis with his black Toyota Camry car on third mainland bridge. Baba Alli as he is fondly called was a political contemporary with prince Tajudeen Olusi in which they both serve as member of the federal house of representative at the same tenure in 1979. double chief is the founder of the prestigious group known as stakeholder in Lagos Island and chairman of ward D1 elders forum, more so his united kingdom trained journalist and editorial chief at the defunct island news pa Baba Alli is the father of Ogbeni Segun Adekunle Alli who is currently serving as a member of the caretaker committee in Lagos Island East LCDA.

(4) HON FOLORUNSHO RASAK BALOGUN a.k.a baba RF, 81 is the leader of the powerful group that dictates who gets what in the Local government, the group known as Redemption has produced many political office holders like senators, federal and state lawmaker and local government chairmen in the past and still producing, Baba RF as he his fondly called by his teaming supporter and admirers was a former member of the Lagos state house of assembly during the era of Governor Lateef Jakande and a one time commissioner at the state civic service commission. this agile and active man is the only octogenarian who is still doing fine on bed as reported by his sexy and most beautiful wife Alhaja Isilat Orieran.

(5) PA OLAYENI AJOSE was a former councillor of premiere ward, ward E3 precisely during the era of Engineer E.G.O Brecoft as the  council boss and believed to be the best fans of the National leader of the Party, Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu for many reason. aside from the sight problem facing the 86 year old man presently, there is no political history of Lagos Island polity that is new to him as he speak with records and fact. this handsome man called baba Ajose is a complete grassroot man who still mobilise during elections with his cool and attractive voice. more so he his cheerful, kind and lovely to be with.

(6) PA OWOLABI MARTINS popularly known and address as OKO 1 was a one time vice chairman of the council under the leadership of  Hon Waliu Gbajumoh, this ward D2 leader and academicians would turn 84 cum July this year. Oko 1 is believed to be one of the die hard supporter of Honourable Kamal bashua who is struggling to return as the council chairman.

(7) RASAK OLATUNJI KALIDSON is the most socialite and philanthropists among all, this 84 years old grassroot politician contested the councillorship seat with late Hon Ganiu Olawale Dawudu (GOD) who later became the council chairman under the platform of the ACTION GROUP (AG), kalidson is a selfless community leader per excellent is a member of many social clubs and religions association in the country such as chairman of the prestigious Okepopo club, a club where most of this octogenarians meet to dine and wine together in other to discuss politics. what make Kalidson special among his peers is that despite the fact that he is one of the three leaders who resides on mainland, there is no election period that he does prepare meals for his party members, friends and associates. presently because of his activeness in Lagos island polity Kalidson is using his charisma and political connections to upgrade the ancient Okepopo Quranic mosques to central mosque, a mosque where he holds the national president, his Philanthropy leadership style has made him produced over twenty graduate in the community.

(8) PRINCE TAJUDEEN OLUYOLE OLUSI (OON) is believed to be the youngest among others but no doubt the most powerful. he started his political career under the tutelage of Pa Obafemi Awolowo, he is from ward A1,Olusi was a former commissioner for Home affairs under the military Administrator of Colonel Olagunsoye Oyinlola also a federal lawmaker representing the good people of Lagos Island constituency 1 under the platform of the defunct UPN, furthermore he was the chairman of the defunct SDP in Lagos state and a former National vice chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in southwest, Olusi who is a front line and recognised member of the justice forum group is presently the senatorial leader of Lagos central senatorial district and will be incomplete not to say he is the father of the incumbent Executive secretary of Lagos Island local Government  Hon Adetoyese Olusi. cum October 13 this year Prince Tajudeen Olusi will be 80.
